Quick Tour to Chichen Itza:
Chichen Itza means "At the mouth of the well of the Itza". Itza was the name of the Mayan who built this amazing place. The main ruins to visit are the Great Pyramid known as "El Castillo" or The Castle. The four stairways contain 91 steps. When counting the top platform as another step, the pyramid has 365 steps, one step for each day of the approximated Maya year. The structure is 24 m high, plus an additional 6 m for the temple. The square base measures 55.3 m across. One of the main attraction is the shadows running down the sides of the staircase on the spring and autumn equinoxes.
The other attractions are the Temple of the Warriors, the Observatory, the Ballcourt, the Nunnery, the Red House and the House of the Deer.
