Tulum:
The only walled city of the Mayan World, Tulum is located at 2 hours from Cancun. This city appeared as a commercial harbor in 1200. At the height of its importance the port received goods from central America, especially Guatemala. The site was abandoned before the arrival of the Spanish, and it is believed that the first European to arrived were Juan de Grijalva in 1518. Xel-Ha:
This wonderful eco-park was named from the Mayan word "where water is born". It was also an harbor for the pre-Hispanic civilization. Nowadays, it is a well-known park which main attraction is its famous interlocking lagoons. They are some of the largest natural pool to swim. Snorkeling there is also a lot of fun with all the tropical fishes. The waterways through the jungle are a treasure to discover using a life-savers or swimming. |
